Disability Scholarships

Students with disabilities sometimes have barriers that other students do not have. Many companies and organizations want to help students with disabilities get their college education by providing scholarships.

Microsoft disAbility Scholarship

Sponsor: Microsoft

Amount: $5,000 per year, up to $20,000 total

Closing Date: March 1

Description: Scholarship is open to current high school seniors living with a disAbility who plan to attend an undergraduate program following graduating. Applicant must plan to declare a major in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, law, business, or a related field.


Kim and Harold Louis Family Foundation Scholarship

Sponsor: The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and individuals entering their freshman year of college during the 2020-2021 academic year. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Special consideration will be noted for applicants who have parents who are U.S. veterans or currently in the U.S. military, students with financial need, first generation college students, and students with a documented significant disability.


AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

Sponsor: AfterCollege

Amount: $500

Closing Date: March 31

Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics from a group underrepresented in their field of study. Underrepresented groups may be defined by gender, race, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, nationality, and other non-visible differences.


API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.


Swim with Mike Physically Challenged Athletes Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to athletes who participated in organized competitive youth, high school or collegiate athletics and subsequently have sustained a life changing accident or illness (e.g. paralysis, blindness, cancer, amputation, head injuries).


Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation Scholarship

Sponsor: Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation

Amount: Up to $4,000

Closing Date: June 19

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who have neurological disabilities or are the child of a person with a neurological disability. Priority will be given to direct spinal cord injuries and diseases resulting in paralysis such as spinal tumors, strokes or aneurysms affecting the spinal cord, or spina bifida.


Claude S. Weiler Scholarship for Amputee College Students

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students with a major limb amputation.
