The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.
Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Scholars Program
Sponsor: Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
Amount: Up to $6,250
Closing Date: Monthly – all documents due to the program team by the 15th of each month
Description: Program is open to children – whether natural, by marriage or adoption – who have lost a parent in the line of military duty, during combat or peacetime. All branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and all components (active, reserve and guard are covered).
Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others
Sponsor: Delaware Department of Education
Amount: Tuition and fees at your college (see website for specific details)
Closing Date: Completed application is due 6-8 weeks before classes begin
Description: Program is open to residents of the state of Delaware between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age whose parent was a resident of Delaware at the time of death or declaration of mission in action or prisoner of war status.
Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program
Sponsor: Wells Fargo
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: There is no application deadline, but grants will be awarded on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted.
Description: Grant program is open to honorably-discharged veterans and spouses of disabled veterans who have served in the United States military. Applicant must be a student who is already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study.

Description: Scholarship is open to dependent unmarried children under the age of 23 of active duty personnel, Reserve/Guard, and retired military members, or survivors of service members who died while on active duty. Description: Applicant must be a dependent, unmarried child under the age of 23 of an active duty, reserve/guard or retired military member or survivors of service members who died while on active duty or survivors of individuals who died while receiving retired pay from the military. Student must be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in the fall of 2020 in a full-time undergraduate program of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree.

Description: Scholarship is open to individuals who are honorably discharged veterans or spouses of disabled veterans who have served in the United States military, including the Reserves and National Guard. Applicant must be a high school or GED graduate who plans to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate (first Master’s degree) study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.

Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Veterans Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and current college students from Illinois who are either veterans or a child or grandchild of a veteran or active-duty military member. In addition to the general scholarships, there are specific scholarships for Nursing majors and students who participate in a Junior ROTC program.
Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to non-traditional students returning to the classroom after some period of time in which his/her formal education was interrupted or a non-traditional student who is just beginning his/her education at a later point in life. Applicant must be a member of The American Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion.
Spirit of Youth Scholarship Fund

Description: Scholarship is open to junior members of the American Legion who are high school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on what they will do to make their college or university a better place, as well recommendations from their principal or guidance counselor, a member of the clergy, and two other adult citizens (a total of four recommendations).

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and individuals entering their freshman year of college during the 2020-2021 academic year. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Special consideration will be noted for applicants who have parents who are U.S. veterans or currently in the U.S. military, students with financial need, first generation college students, and students with a documented significant disability.

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate or advanced degree nursing or nurse anesthesia program who are serving or have previously served in any branch of a component of the U.S. Army.
