Mike Reynolds Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who will be college sophomores, juniors, or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded and are pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism.


Media Plan Case Competition

Sponsor: Washington Media Scholars Foundation

Description: Competition is open to undergraduate students enrolled at a college or university in the United States. Applicant must team up with another student (does not need to attend same institution) to submit a competitive media plan.


SPJ High School Essay Contest

Sponsor: Society of Professional Journalists

Amount: Up to $1,000

Closing Date: February 21

Description: Contest is open to students enrolled in grades 9-12 in U.S. public, private, and home schools within the United States. Applicant must submit an essay on the topic, “During a presidential election cycle, how can local journalism help foster more civil discussion in communities around politics and democracy?”


LAGRANT Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships

Sponsor: LAGRANT Foundation

Amount: $2,500

Closing Date: February 28

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and AB-540/DACA recipients who are a member of one of the following ethnic groups: African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American/Alaska Native. Applicant must be a full-time student at a four-year accredited institution in the U.S. with at least a 3.0 GPA and majoring in a field of study that has an emphasis on advertising, marketing or public relations. Applications submitted on or before January 17 will be eligible for an extra 10 points.


Bodie McDowell Scholarship

Sponsor: Outdoor Writers Association of America

Amount: Up to $5,000

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students entering their junior or senior year of study or graduate students. Applicant must have career goals in outdoor communications.


National Italian American Foundation Scholarships

Sponsor: The National Italian American Foundation

Amount: Up to $12,000

Closing Date: March 1

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, medical, and legal students who will be enrolled in higher education for the Fall 2020 semester and have a GPA of at least 3.5. Applicant must have at least one ancestor who immigrated from Italy. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to specific majors and state residency.


Richard G. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who plans to pursue a career in journalism. Applicant must submit three work samples and other application materials.


SEMA Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. Citizens enrolled in a program of study at an accredited university, college or post-secondary vocational-technical program located within the United States. Applicant must be planning to enter the automotive industry and may be majoring in Accounting/Finance, Auto Body/Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, Business, Communications/PR, Engineering, Graphic Design/Web Design, Industrial Design, Information Technology, Journalism, Manufacturing, Marketing/Sales, Motorsports, Supply Chain/Logistics, or Transportation.


Leonard M. Perryman Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to racial ethnic minorities students who are United Methodist undergraduate students intending to pursue a career in religion journalism or mass communications.


Business Student Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently working towards a degree in a field of business such as Accounting, Advertising, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, International Relations, Management, Political Science, Public Relations, etc. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Walt Disney Company UNCF Corporate Scholars Program

Description: Scholarship is open to African American college sophomores who have an interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry (e.g. film, television, hospitality management, journalism, media production, digital media, etc). Preference will be given to students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
